I love this program, but it is not my tool of choice for repairing damaged photos. Depending on what needs to be repaired, you can manually remove objects (e.g. scratches) and select individual areas of an image for correction, but a program like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements has content-aware fill capabilities that SPE doesn't have and will automatically fill gaps to match the rest of the image. Anything you do with SPE will require more effort, since the program isn't specifically designed for this kind of thing.
