How do you reduce the size of a pic to 1 MB with good detail
How do you reduce a photo to 1 MB that was originally larger? Also could you do so and also maintain good detail despite the reduced internet screen size? Any help would be appreciated:0
Re: How do you reduce the size of a pic to 1 MB with good detail
The best way to reduce a file size is to tweak the settings in the "Export Settings" dialog. If it only needs to be viewed on a screen, not zoomed in and not printed, then you wont need more than approximately 2000x1000 pixels in size. Even on high jpg settings, that would probably end up at less than 1MB. If you need it high resolution, try a few different Quality settings. Also: one more tip: If you can smooth out any areas of the picture that have camera noise in them, that should also reduce your file size. There are a few noise reduction effects in the gallery (search for denoise). Noise is very difficult to compress!

How do I save finished project specific size ex. 4x6/5x7 etc
How do I save a finished product to a specific size for printing. For example a 4 x6 or a 5 x7, 8 x 10 etc. without loosing the effects I added to the project....such as borders, titles etc. Looks right on computer, until printing @ photography printing places as shutterfly, walgreens, walmart, etc.

When saving your picture, SPE automatically adds an _pe to the filename, so that it doesn't destroy the original. Check and make sure you're not printing out the original picture.
