How can I remove an old "favorite" from the list?

When you hover over the favorites icon, you'll see two lists, the right one is recent items (items disappear from this when you don't use them) and the left one is favorites. To delete items from the favorites, depending on which version of the software you're running, either press on the "<" button or the "Manage Favorites" button, depending on which one you see. That then gives you the option to remove items from the favorites list.
