Need help re creating a new sky replacement effect

Postby Ollievision » Sat Jun 02, 2012 1:31 pm

Hi All,

I've been using SPE to replace skies like this:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =3&theater but would like more choice so am now having a go at making my own effect.

I've got a landscape of my own into effect creator... and that's it. Is there a YouTube video that shows how to create a new sky replacement? I have been around the forum looking for help but can only find general advice re effect creation - not specific instructions regarding sky replacement.

Thanks.

Hi,

1. Click on the Effect Creator tool
2. Create a new "sky" selection using the selections section at the bottom of the effect creator and confirm it.
3. Click "Add Image" to open another image
4 Drag a "Merge" node from the top set of nodes into the Effect Canvas
5 Join the Effect Input to the top input of the Merge node
6 Join the Scale node to the bottom input of the Merge node (the scale node might be hidden underneath the load image node).
7 Join the Merge node's output to the effect output.
8 Double click on the merge node to get different merging options.
9. Changte the "Area" from "whole image" to "sky"

This process will become a lot easier when our new compositing tool is released soon!

I still do not understand, can you make this a little more simpler for me? I am trying to get a black and wite background with my subject still in color

You don't need expert mode to do this. Just use Select Area, choose background, then once you confirm, choose black and white from the color menu.
