Started already as a powerfull image Wess, but you managed to get even a more arty touch to it, I like the chromatic feel it got!

Oh dear ... the problem I have is the original is such a wonderful image ... I mean REALLY wonderful. Whilst I can appreciate the effects, sadly you came in with such an amazing image I'm still goo-goo-gah-gah over the original

Agreed. I have mulled over images of my own with SPE and eventually had to admit the original could not be improved upon. Why is this such a hard decision to make?

Thanks for the input. I appreciate all comments.
Not in defence but in explanation for the second image: It was just plain fun to do. My vision for an image takes me to different places. I took the original in color and then I visualized the chromatic potential of the lips in B&W. Much of the work I do is Digital or Photo Art. There is nothing wasted that I learn through experimentation and putting effects into, not always obvious processes.
A good example of this is that I sometimes use>Soft pastel and pencil drawing effect, by tatiantat, as an effective way of removing blemishes on portraits. Slide the Master Fader all the way to the left and "bump" it to the right slightly. Not just in portraits. Slightly bumping to the right after moving the Fader all the way to the left will smooth most surfaces. It will change the contrast very little, but that can be dealt with easily.
I enjoy SPE and the more I use it the more powerful and creative it becomes for me. I enjoy the input. I am here to learn, thanks everyone who takes part in showing your work.

Re: Before and After FX
Hi again, re-reading my post it comes across as a criticism. It's not. I love both images equally. In fact, maybe I prefer the second.
I think my point is that, for me, I have taken an excellent image from the camera and wasted what seems like hours trying to improve it. Maybe using PS and/or SPE. I never overwrite images but save it with a numerical suffix. I then leave all the images for a day or so and go back to them. I then find that, actually, the original image is best! I suspect something in my brain is conditioned to thinking that post-processing MUST improve a photo. When in fact this is not necessarily true.

Ahhh Richard. The joys of the typed word versus the spoken word. The times it has got me into trouble; not suggesting yours got you into any trouble that is. See what I mean? Just a few words typed innocently and whoops the delete button gets hit and you ponder over a 'better' way to phrase it. On this occasion I didn't though!

Both images are really cool. You captured a special image the first time, great job! The second image is just so interesting. I would love them both the same if I had never seen the other.
