Painted Amaryllis in 3 Presentations

Postby Phelon » Sat Jul 26, 2014 3:52 am

Hi Everybody,

Here is the Amaryllis I downloaded yesterday and then it got lost with a comment when SPE servers were upgraded. First the flower is from our dining room, and blooms once a year. The blossoms are spectacular and don't last very long--1 week. Fun to photograph. Here first is painted effect made with Corel 'Paint It', then applied straightening in SPE, then applied Area Treatment, and next used Hdri global illumination, then applied Andrew's Artistic media 003 F6, and finally used Chocolat Font supplied free from Dafonts.com.

Second image a copy of an Apple's email stationery with painting superimposed. Could use as cover folder; I made several with different effects after selecting background.

Third presentation is mounting the painting in a frame. Frame software supplied by "Image Framer". a free program, unless you add more frames.

I can never get enough of flower images and yours are always extremely beautiful! All the treatments are lovely, and I can't decide which I like best.

Hi Phelon,

I'm in full agreement with eadams! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL - each and every one. I think I like them best in this order (2) (1) (3). There is something very interesting about (2) a 'landscape' format image in a 'portrait' format frame - very appealing! Quite the little flower graphics too, but it is the juxtaposition of the image and frame that sets off you WONDERFUL Amaryllis. (1) Is more conventional, but I like the frame simplicity and (3) is very rich looking, but I think the frame (which is quite dominant) distracts a little from the image.

The artwork and processing is excellent and the results reveal your many artistic skills. You have produced lasting memories of a 'fleeting' sight as you said 'The blossoms are spectacular and don't last very long--1 week'. A great reminder to us to 'flower' when we can and make the most of our moment in time.

Delightful to view.

Thanks for sharing,

Your friend - Andrew

Hi eadams,

I was thinking of you when I was preparing the painting. Yes, fresh flowers in the home to see and sometimes smell give a nice sense of being alive and healthy--the beauty of Mother Nature seems to cast a spell of everything right and here I am with love.

In looking at different programs for painting, I thought I would have you take a second look at FotoSketcher.com version 2.9 by David from Lyon, France. It's a beautiful free program, and I think I can help you add some interest. Here we go: you mentioned about the small window to see your selection painted--that's true; however, you can use your paint brush to paint the selected paint-style over the larger picture over a selected area in the overall scene. This is probably want you want to use, because you can paint out (erase to original) by choosing the very bottom paint style to paint out any portion of your painting and do it using the slider for size and translucency. Effectively, you could also paint two 2 or more styles on your image. The small window does give you a very quick preview. David's latest paint style #9 is very realistic, as-well-as his other styles. Anyway, I thought I would help you use it better.

Thank you for your nice comments today. Look forward to seeing your next presentation.

Hi Phelon,

Thank you for drawing my attention to the manual brush functionality in FotoSketcher! It does indeed add a whole new dimension to how one can work with the program. The program itself is a true jewel. There seem to be many great programs out there that are the work of one developer only. It is truly amazing!
