Architecture

Postby Richard Briggs » Fri Jul 25, 2014 3:59 pm

I wrote once before about how some new effects appear and I can't conceive how anyone would actually use them. I was proved wrong then and am proved wrong again. I think this was one of AndrewB's more recent effects....

Hi Richard,

It is very interesting to note that when I design certain effects, I don't necessarily have in mind a particular use for them. I always thought it nice to allow others to come up with the creative ideas as to how they should be used. My effects are merely tools, it is how they are used that excites me! So it is an absolute DELIGHT to see your striking use of one of my more recent effects to create a STUNNING GRAPHICAL ARTWORK! The way that you have married your magnificent image of a building with one of my grid effects is SUPERB! The two aspects are complimentary to each other and there is indeed synergy, whereby the effect is greater than the sum of the parts.

There is a minimalist quality to your image and a wonderful balance between the left & right panels. You have produced an almost duo-toned image with a lovely contrast between left and right.

I love architectural art! This is simply BEAUTIFUL and there is no better tribute to me than to use one of my effects so artistically. You've done me proud my friend.

Pure EYE CANDY!

Regards,

Andrew

Hi Richard,

Very nicely done. I've been looking and watching, looking and watching. I can't get enough of this "eye candy"--so simple, yet so powerful.

It's a year ago since I posted this picture and blowed if I can find this effect again! Short of individually going through all 7000+ effects I simply can't find it. Can anyone tell me what I used? Andrew?

I have a similar photo that my daughter took and wants the same effect on it.

Help!
Richard

Hi Richard,

Think the effect was from a series of mine called 'Windows and grids' or, perhaps, 'Windows and grids V3 with tone controls', but I'm not sure.

Hope this helps you find what you are looking for.

Kind regards,

Andrew

You are correct Andrew. And here's the result. I eliminated the vertical distortion in Elements, applied the Windows and Grid effect, masked all but the centre building and then applied one your artistic media borders (I am a sucker for your artistic media effect!).

Good on you Richard,

Another fine image - glad you found what you were looking for. Don't think I've used these effects myself, but it is great to see what you have achieved using them. As I said before, I just created a lot of the effects without thinking of their use - hoping that talented photo artists like your good self would find creative ways of using them. So I am chuffed to see one of the effects put to such good use. Well done!

Regards,

Andrew
