Cement Wall ....SPE Changed photo to B/W then re coloured the leaves.

Hi William,
This image appeals to me a lot! I simply adore textures and grayscale images - your use of minimalist 'selective' colour works very well as does the composition. I might have 'burned in' the window frame a little bit (especially around the outer edges) and whilst there is no specific facility to 'burn-in' within SPE, you could always use the same image as a layer (by using the Composite feature) and use a blend mode to darken the image (e.g. multiply mode) and use the 'Erase' brush to erase everything other than the window so that everything else is unaltered.
But a BEAUTIFUL image non-the-less.

Very nice indeed!
If you wanted to, you could crop the right hand side and the bottom of the picture to achieve a slightly "better" composition. (According to the Rule of Thirds).
I agree with Andrew about making the window frame a bit bolder.
However, a great submission!!

Thank you for your comments.....After taking a second longer look I agree with you........however I never really follow the rule of thirds..........Have a great week.....

Nice work. Lovely simple, but strong image. Good eye. Rule of thirds should not be called a rule. A guide-line would be better, a good one.
Composition is a simple concept but difficult to put a mathematical formula to it. There are many nuances. A good example is to convert a good color composition to BW. Many times I have to change my composition to account for the emotional weight difference between the two. Also, positive and negative space changes. Breaking the rules of composition can also be useful if your goal is to create tension.
I love your photo, soothing with a hint of mystery. What's behind that little window?

Andrew:Thank you for your kind words re the wall.........This is rather a strange place few hours north of Toronto.......called "Screaming Heads" Burks Falls Ontario check out the web pages and photos.........there was not much behind window.Bill
