The Waverley (or is it yelrevaW?)

Postby arj0000 » Tue Sep 01, 2015 7:29 pm

Andrew recently posted an album which included several shots of the Waverley.
She's a popular paddle steamer often seen passing my house during the summer season.

Here's a photo of the Waverley steaming backwards out of Rothesay harbour.
It continued this way for about 3Km.

It was a great pleasure to see the Waverley when we were at Tighnabruaich as I have fond memories of 'going doon the water' on it as a young boy. I worked with an old chap many years ago who had wonderful knowledge of the River Clyde, the ship-building yards and all the boats and ships that went up and down the river. He absolutely love boats and ships. I used to sit with him a dinner time as he worked on model boats - he made many, many models of the Waverley, so it is great to see your image of the Waverley going backward. This is quite fitting, as it takes me back in time to many lovely memories. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Andrew
