Another Rubbish Photograph to ART!

Postby andrewb2012 » Tue May 01, 2018 12:03 pm

Hi Folks,

I can no longer see properly to take good photographs 'in camera' - all I do now is 'point-and-shoot' using automatic settings. I cannot see the screen with any clarity in daylight, so I try to include much more area in my images with the hope of being able to crop a reasonable image using my PC. If, for example, I take photographs of boats in a marina - I simply cannot see details of masts on screen - so the danger is that I cut them out of the image unless I include quite a lot of sky. No longer can I really do traditional photography. What I can do is have FUN with rubbish photographs using SPE to turn these poor images into artworks (which may of course be even more rubbish in others eyes - but they are fun making).

Here are some examples of what I mean:

All processing done in SPE with the exception of resizing and shadow border which was done in Photoscape.

I love what you did with this image! I had a hard time finding a favorite, because they all looked so good but eventually chose variation 9.

Oh, I forgot to ask what effect was used in some of the images (e.g. variation 7 and 9) that triples the image in different colors. Do you remember what it was?

Your photos nothing wrong, they look great they are not rubbish, you see the photos in your minds eye and produce excellent pix. At 85 I'm having some of the problems you mention but I won't stop shoot ing daily, keep going

William thanks for your comments - I amazed that you take photographs daily - I only take photographs occasionally these days, but I have a huge stock of images from the past that I can work on with software now that my eyes are quite poor. Any photographs I take now are done using a small compact camera - Canon SX610HS - the screen is quite good in bright light, but it is too small for me to see much detail in terms of sharpness and focus - I just rely on setting and hope for the best. I can see enough to make a reasonable composition, but I have to wait until I get home to see the results on my computer. A trick I use is to take more of the extremities of the composition than I did in the past - this allows me to crop out the rubbish and end up with an OK image (generally). My bank of images will keep me going for a long while yet. I just enjoy playing around as the mood takes me.

Anyway William, happy daily shooting!

Cheers,

Andrew
