How to add a new effect to share?

For some reason, it is impossible to add a new effect created to share with other users. The instruction is to update the search engine from the File menu, but there is no such option.

The option is FILE - Update Galleries

Saw that option - but it is always greyed out and cannot be selected. Also cannot find the effects with a search

It's greyed out if you are in the gallery, as it would update the gallery while you are browsing it. If you just open the software you'll find it's not greyed out.
