Oil painting effect

Postby Fred_Bear » Wed Dec 12, 2012 10:28 am

Hi

can anyone provide an oil painting effect that does not include the standard blob type markings and the curved line that runs over the centre portion of the effect? I find as I am doing a few photos with the oil painting effects (they look great) that they are obviously created with software as the paint blobs appear on the top right etc, and the curved line with buildings is on each one. Or is there a way I can change the effect myself?

Thanks

Regards

Hi Fred,

Have you looked at all the different oil painting effects (Under Refine Your Search, go to Artist > Oils)? There might be others you like too. I'm guessing you're talking about an effect called 'Oil Painting Brushes'.

You can create a similar effect if you have a black and white photo of an oil paint texture (just random splodges of oil paint, covering a piece of paper, heavily side lit to bring out the texture of the brush strokes and exposed so that it mostly comes out mid-grey). If you use the composite tool and add that photo as an overlay, then change the blending mode to merge or combine.

Hi

Thanks for the information, I had not thought of merge, still a number of things in it I need to learn.
