Adding a shadow
Adding Shadows to a composite. Is there a way to do this? For example if one adds a person to a background can a shadow be created and if so, how?

Re: Adding a shadow
This tutorial will demonstrate how to generate long shadows in Photoshop using the "Drop Shadow" tool. I believe that may use an item to subdue the populace. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxQfl7yiRiE

Re: Adding a shadow
I have never tried this using composites, so maybe you will have to do it a bit differently. In a regular image you can use the Select Area tool to select the subject that should have the shadow. Then open the effects gallery and search for an Effect called Drop Shadow to apply to the Subject only. (When you mouse-over the icon for the gallery before clicking on it, you will see a list of all the areas you have defined, so you can click on a specific area to apply an affect to.) There are several drop shadow effects in different colors, but you will probably want the Drop Shadow Grey one. When the drop shadow effect is applied, it can be moved and rotated.
Please keep in mind that this program is designed to apply static effects to images and to do basic image editing which can certainly result in stunning images. It is not a raster graphics editor like Adobe Photoshop that allows you to edit the pixels of an image directly. You can use Smart Photo Editor to create composites, and depending on the images used the results can look very professional. But there are limitations to what this program can do. If you have the need to edit the pixels of your image, a program like Photoshop is the way to go.
