I have edited to different color images and black and white but after being rendered it shows up in my files in original color. If I bring it back into Smart editor it is the corrected color or application I applied. I am saving as a jpeg file high resolution.

SPE does save your file with a sufix _pe to the filename, did you open the right file?
Like: Myname_pe.jpg instead of Myname.jpg
