How about a Border Factory

Postby jdfeka » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:01 pm

It just occurred to me that a very useful, and unique feature might be added that could prove popular and versatile.

The idea is a utility which makes borders with the following features

 Allow the user to select the number of frames and the kind of corner on each frame.

 Allow the user to vary the colour, width and transparency of each frame, letting frames overlap each other, or the photo itself.

 Provide a tool that allows the user to select an area, either within the photo itself, or perhaps an entirely separate photos, and the utility will replicate that area to make a pattern which will fill the frame it is applied to.

Hi Jack,

Some of the features you describe are available through the effects editor. Click on Effects editor and search for Border. Drag the border node onto the canvas, and link the effect input to the left hand side of it and the right hand side to effect output. Double click on the node and you will be able to do the first two of those things. If you want, you can even publish borders you are happy with to the borders gallery for others to use.

Tony,

I tried it and it works even better than I had imagined, lacking only the pattern making function, but with other abilities I hadn't thought of.

Using the horizontal and vertical shifting allows you to create a 3D effect and the eye dropper lets you pick colours from the image itself for use in the frame.

I've attached a sample.
