Activation bug in OS X 10.9 Mavericks (DP)

In OS X 10.9 Mavericks (at least in DP3) full version with open in Dock without activation dialog.
Way around this is to open the terminal (you will need admin rights) and type:
sudo open -a SmartPhotoEditor
You may have trouble still getting the dialog to stay in focus, just hover over the dock icon, hit cmd V to paste key into box and then hit enter.
If problem still happens try to install DockView trial (with Dock previews enabled) and then repeat terminal instructions.

Do you mean that the activation dialog doesn't come up when it should? Or is it only when opened in the dock??

In Mavericks the activation dialog doesn't come up at all, unless you use a program called DockView which lets you see it while hover your mouse over it's dock icon.

Many thanks for getting back to me about this. I've done a little digging and, since Mavericks is not yet released, we are not supporting it explicitly yet. Rest assured though that we will be looking into this issue in the next few weeks hopefully and will get back to you with an update that fixes the problem you have been having.

This bug doesn't exist anymore on the final release of Mavericks OS X.
