Loading new pic

I cannot get past tutorial page to load a picture. have done restart and reinstalled. When I try to load picture nothing happens!

If you go to File > Open... do you get the file dialog? We only support, jpg, tiff, png and raw files, do you know the type of the picture you're trying to load?
