Freezing
Running SPE 1.0.16 on a 24Gb win7 machine. Opened a CR2 file. Chose 'edit photo', 'Add effect to whole photo' then click on the right arrow to get the next page of options. The app freezes and eventually the OS offers the close option, which it does. Reopening asks me if I want the recovered image which is invariably the original, as you would expect.

Re: Freezing
Have you got "Load 16 bit images at 8 bit..." turned off in the settings dialog? If so try turning it on to see if that fixes it.

Re: Freezing
Yes that was the problem. Does that mean I will loose colour veracity in my manipulations?
Re: Freezing
There is currently a bug in one of the filters in 16 bit mode. It's a rare filter that you are unlikely to use, but will come up in the gallery (causing the crash you had when you got to a page which used that filter). By turning off the setting, you stoped it crashing, and will see everything in 8bit within the app. When you come to save, it will try the whole sequence of changes you made in 16 bit. If you happened to pick an effect with the problem in it the software will crash when you try to save (which is unlikely). Otherwise you'll get the full colour processing when you do save.
All that said, of course I'm working on fixing the crash too!

Re: Freezing
Hi there,
I´m seeing the same crashes happen with my 16bit TIFF pictures. When I use e.g. "Vibrance" or "Vibrant color" the application crashes when saving (regardless of destination file type is TIFF or JPG).
I tried unchecking "Load 16 bit images as 8 bit" and reloaded my project - but again it crashed during save ... I have not tried with 8bit pictures yet.
Is the Vibrance filter the one causing problems? Hope this will be fixed with an update ...
Thanks - MacSass

Re: Freezing
Hello Admin,
any idea on when we can expect an update? Is this actively being worked on?
I really like the concept, but with the current very frequent crashes the software is not really usable for daily work.
I admit the price was not too steep - still I would be hoping to the this application and concept being developed further ... especially also the part for uploading effects still looks very preliminary for me (did not manage to upload my effects yet).
Thanks - MacSass

Re: Freezing
Oh yes, we are still actively working on this. We've been quiet for a while because the next update will be a large one. The entire interface is being overhalled, hopefully making it faster and easier to use. It's hard to put an exact timescale on these things but we might have a new release out in the next few weeks which updates the main interface and a while after that a new release that completly overhalls the effect creation system.
Watch this space!

Hi admin,
thanks for the update - I know software development never is an exact science - so I´ll be patiently waiting for what is coming ... maybe it might make a good christmas present .
Until soon - MacSass
