small file size when saved in smart photo editor

why is the image downsampled so much when I save as .jpg in this software?

A small file size doesn't mean the photo is downsampled. It might be that your original file was stored in a larger file format (like uncompressed tiff for example). If you are sure the actual width and height have changed, could you send me a private message with a PE file attached so I can have a look? In general though PE doesn't change the number of pixels unless you have a specific effect which does that on purpose (for instance borders make the image larger!)
