.pe filename extension not added to filename

SPE program installation not establishing a Windows filename extension for .pe session files.

Once the session file was actually saved by SPE, (by circumventing the .filename disruption upon File > Save Session File) and the resulting .pe file as clicked on in the Win XP OS file manager, Windows had no recognition that SPE is the program to launch to edit the .pe session file. This is likely an omission during the SPE program installation.

Perhaps follow the convention established in Portrait Professional where the .pp is the file extension and also pre-pended with an underscore (_pp) before the filename extension when saving as a TIF file (filename_pp.TIF). And, another _pp is added as successive file versions are created.

All these issues have now been resolved, and a new release will be available in the next few days. Do post here if you still find some aspect of saving isn't working as expected.

Once the new build is released, and I've had a go at it, I'll report any findings....

Will SPE users be automatically notified once the next release is available? Or, will we need to browse the SPE website, or, use Help > Check for Updates from within the program?

Our release process is as follows: First we make it available on the website. The easiest way to find out about that is to use the check for updates feature within the Help menu. We are releasing this new version in a few hours, so you will be able to get it via that method if you are keen. If that goes well, a few days later, a button appears on the toolbar of Smart Photo Editor that notifies everyone else that a new release is available, so you only need use the check for updates feature if you are very keen!

The Save Session procedure still fails to autoinsert the base image filename in the filename field to be saved. The directory is correctly using the target directory last selected to obtain the image being edited, but the filename field comes up empty. If the filename is manually entered and saved, a .pe is correctly appended to a manually entered filename. Selecting and clicking on a .pe filename does properly launch SPE (when SPE is not already running).
