Bending text

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "bend text", but I don't think it's possible. You can rotate and move text (or any other overlay), but you can't change the contours as far as I know.

Yes, that's right, there's no way to have text that isn't on a straight line.

Inkscape is a free vector drawing package that lets you put any text on a path that can moved or bent in any direction. Gimp is a free image based package that also lets you warp text along a path.
