Can anyone help?

I keep getting the 'failed to read TIFF file (unsupported number of samples per pixel.)
No matter how I try it just won't open. I've checked the way I save from PSE as a TIFF at around 10 meg ish, and have actually managed the other day to open a saved file in SPE. I've compared the way I save and it's identical to the one I opened. It is a problem as I hate doing any editing in JPEG. I convert from RAW in PSE and save as a reduced size TIFF. When I'm happy I will save as a JPEG to use.
Can you help please I'm finding this inability to open TIFF rather frustrating?
I use a Mac.
