C Block Blue

Postby dhenning » Sat Sep 07, 2013 4:35 am

Another from my abstract collection! The blocks are an effect from SPE, but the block texture is from a photo I took of the water at the beach. I used a custom effect to apply the color gradient (started off with the "Fantasy" effect I think). I also modified the "White Border" effect to give it a frame and double mat. What's neat with the color selection for the mat border is being able to choose a color from the picture using the dropper to get an exact match.

Nice work. I love good abstracts. I like to make my own textures and sometimes I totally "destroy" some of the textures in the effects gallery. I found out a way to download all of the the textures and overlays. Haven't tried this on a Microsoft (shudder) OS. I am sure it can be done.

BTW, good color scheme.

Not a criticism, just an observation from an interior designer. To make this zing, you might want to consider a mat other than white. My rule of thumb is to NOT use anything that impedes a strong engagement with the image. Abstracts are fun to work with re: matting and framing.

I do understand for general viewing, white is safe. I had a showing in a gallery that required all work matted in white. We came to agreement, I would leave my work unmatted.

Bottom line, do what makes you happy.

Be happy and create!
