Keys, Illustration

Postby WC Lawson » Sun Sep 08, 2013 10:51 am

This is very easy to do. Do what ever adjustments to the original that you need to make. Mask out the background using Select Area then use the effects gallery to make the tiled background. I use this as a base for some of my other work. I have a very complex work that incorporates this simple but powerful process.
I do a lot of Illustrations. I have people who use Photoshop for many years ask me how I accomplish what I do. Kudos go to you guys who developed and continue to improve this software.

There are several things I would like to see. One would be a history. On critical work, I save as a session. I put a lot of info in my file name. I can't write very well; so, maybe that is just my challenge.

Nice work!
I too save alot of session versions, just to be save when working on a photo.

I do like to see the original effect name when I edited the effect, now it's changed to 'custom effect' maybe something like '<effect name> (modified)' by that I always can see which effect I used.
Sometimes I want to use a certain effect again on an other photo and when I go back to the session of the specific photo which use the effect, I see that I edited the effect and the effect name is gone and needed to start searching again ;)

But again, a nice creation Lawson and a plus for describing on how you came to your creation, always a chance to learn something out of it!

Hi Both,

Very nice. A change such as showing '<effect> (modified)' is very easy to integrate in principle but, in practice, a modification could potentially transform an effect an arbitrary distance away from what it started out as. A history feature as you suggest (even a textual summary) would avoid this problem to some extent so we can look into that.

Many thanks.

You've got a point Darren a history in that case will be great, if you ask me, as long as I can see where I did started in the past

Thanks for your reply!

darrenp, Thank you so very much for looking into this. This is one of the things that separate you from the other photo editing programs. I actually hear from some one. The forum is of great help also.

snapnpiks,Select, Select Area (just below effects gallery) , select the area around the object that you want to be unaffected by gallery effects. Confirm. Then place cursor over the effects gallery and slide the cursor to the left and choose background. Then find checker board and choose it for the background.

Of course, you can choose other than checker board. Your project will dictate what you choose to replace the background with.

You can create some very interesting images by using this technic.

I thank all of you for your input.

Hi again my friend.

Outstanding WORK OF ART - Pure EYE CANDY!

Great to see of my effects put to such an Artistic use. The full title of the effect is 'Checkerboard 003' by andrewb2012.

Whilst many might just have used the effect on its own, the BEAUTY of your image is that you have over-layered the original effect result with a larger image of the keys. By doing this you have put your own stamp on the final result. You have turned the ordinary into extra-ordinary! Love the final image.

SUPERB USE OF SMART PHOTO EDITOR'S CAPABILITIES!

More please!

Cheers,

Andrew
