Winter Dawn
Taken on a Canon G12 at dawn one January in England. The effect used was 'Relight' plus the White Border frame.

Re: Winter Dawn
Richard, this is a fantastic work of art. I can feel the chill and crunch of the frosted grass under my feet. The gentle plume of mist leaving my mouth, the hint of warmth coming from the sun.
Composition is spot on. Nailed the exposure.
I use relight more than any other effect for landscapes.
In fact, I used it in the Wetland Mist posting.
I have one observation, NOT a criticism! If you study the image on the left side at the hedgerow just above where the shadows meet the highlights you probably will see it. It is very small but holds the eye from following mentally to find the sun. I wouldn't have mentioned it but, for the fact that this is a wonderful photograph.

Re: Winter Dawn
Thanks guys,
Wess, do you mean the little weed sticking up? Is that what you think is distracting? If so I'd agree so a little cloning maybe a good idea. If not could you explain further?

Re: Winter Dawn
Richard, Yep. Small thing I know. Again, this is one of the best landscapes I have seen in a while, and I have seen many.
I am fairly new to this forum, so I don't know at what level people want input.
After 30 years of photography, I have found myself in a new world since digital photography came along. I resisted it vigorously, until I lost all of my original negs and transparencies. I had a box of "junk" photos and started playing with them using a very simple photo editing program. Tried photoshop, not for me. Then I found SPE.
I have studied the history of photography and I think photography is going through an identity crisis. Which is good. The point to any creative endeavor is self expression, regardless of what people want to label it. I say this in light of the role that the digital tool is and will play in the future of photography.
Everything I do starts with a photograph, some photographs stay as photographs. I hope to see more of your work.
