First successful ? attempt with SPE
Had this black and white photo that I took while at boarding school about 37 years ago. It had stains on it and was in pretty ratty shape. I have always wanted to do something with it. There were so many options but this is the first one I have finished. Is it okay? Any suggestions?

Hi Moonbeam1,
Glad to see you did find your way in using SPE, I alread like your original photo a lot, very nostalgic!
Your enhancment on this photo makes it warm and brings the photo to the colorful era.
As a suggestion (you asked) you can do a sky replacement behind the texture you're currently using (Select Area, Sky), but thats up to you, every creative expression is right
Thanks for sharing,
Arwin

Re: First successful ? attempt with SPE
Thank you for your feedback. Sort of funny, your suggestion. My first attempts at workin on just the sky were thwarted by the crashing situation. I have received a PM with the link to the beta to try so I'll work on a new version with that. BTW, I assume? I should install both the .dmg AND the .exe files?
Re: First successful ? attempt with SPE
Im not using the mac version, so Im not sure about the .dmg, its a question for Tony or his team
Hope that the crashes are solved in the new beta, I only did had some crash problems with AdrewsB effects, but they are aware of that and working on it.

Hi,
The dmg files are for the Mac platform and the .exe file is for windows. Sorry for the confusion. We've checked and this version does fix the problems with some of AndrewB's effects, and a couple of other bugs.

Re: First successful ? attempt with SPE
Sorry to be a pain about this but I haven't heard back from tech support yet. So now I have all these files, downloads, etc on my computer. Does anyone know if I can delete the prior version of SPE since I have the beta one? Or is the beta one like one of those programs that utilized info from the prior version so I should keep both? When I click on the only icon image now it says v1.19.21/ZRaw-v1.3
But my computer says there is a 1.19.18 pkg. I see it listed under devices along with the new one for some reason? Why are the programs listed as devices?
Should I delete anything having to do with SPE and start over by downloading just the .dmg of the new version? When I try to delete the older version it says I can't because it's being used which is weird since I don't have the program open as far as I know.
So confused

Re: First successful ? attempt with SPE
Hi Phoebe,
The .dmg file is a Disk Image file for MAC OS X which contains the install package. When you open it, it mounts the image, and you can browse the contents of it under devices.
The .pkg file is used for installing the software. You don't need these files after you've finished the installation (however it's a good idea to keep a backup of the .dmg).
What I would suggest is to delete SmartPhotoEditor.app files under applications, and try to re-install it from the previously mounted image files (by double-cicking on the .pkg file)
Regards,
Vangelisz
