Moveable Spiral Effects.
I've just uploaded 38 moveable spiral effects.
What can you do with them?
Well that is entirely up to you and your creative mind.
One suggestion is that they might be superimposed on an object with a circular moving part to simulate the movement - you will need to adjust the effect to keep it subtle & meet your needs.
I contrived a silly little graphic artwork using some of Obsidian Dawn Photoshop Brushes (which I used under commercial license) to show you other possibilities on how to use my new effects. You can alter the position of the spirals, adjust their size, change their aspect ratio, change hue, change opacity, change saturation & vibrance.
I look forward to seeing what people do with them - they might look useless at first sight, but give them a try and you might be surprised at what you create:
Example images - the only thing that has changed is the choice of effect from my new series called 'Move, rotate & resize spirals 001-038'. HAVE FUN!
It might take a few days until they appear in the effects gallery!

Re: Moveable Spiral Effects.
Hi Andrew,
Here's an example using your latest movable effects (Move, Rotate and Resize Spirals 019). This is what I did to get the same effect twice (maybe there's an easier way )....
Apply effect to left hand propeller.
Shrink to fit.
Mask at about 50% opaqueness using airbrush.
Save as JPG (there maybe an easier way here!).
Open the file as a new picture.
Repeat first three steps on right hand propeller.
Unmarsk the ground crew figure
Apply White Border
Regards
Richard

Re: Moveable Spiral Effects.
Hi Richard,
I'm delighted to see your great image - although, I like creating effects I don't necessarily have much desire to use them myself - this series was, as I said before, inspired by your use of one of my past effects. What you have done here demonstrates the use I thought you might apply to your aircraft images and a fine job you have done too. The way you approached it to achieve the effect on both propellers seems fine to me, but you can simply accept the first application of the effect then apply it again - I could of course make the same type of effects with two or three of the same spirals - each one being moveable & adjustable like the single spiral. Is this something you would want me to do for your purposes - let me know what you think! Using masking techniques is almost certainly the way to get the best out of these effects.
Thank you for sharing and I hope that you continue to find these effects useful - look forward to anything you come up with. If you have any ideas for effects of this type, let me know and I'll try to accommodate - however, I've set a target of 2000 effects with about 350 to go. After this target is reached I've decided to give others the opportunity of adding to the Effect Gallery Contributions. I always just wanted to stimulate others to make effects both for themselves and to encourage them to contribute effects to SPE the community. The impetus seems to be there now and I feel that it is time for fresh blood and new ideas. Good luck to all effect creators.
Cheers,
Andrew

Re: Moveable Spiral Effects.
Awesome use of Andrews effect Richard! Looks really terrific
You can indeed apply the second effect right behind the first, so no need to save the image first and reopen as Andrew already mentioned (but of course your method will work though)
You can even adjust the mask of the first effect by clicking on the mask-tab of the effect used.
I always keep an eye on the forum, if you need a specific effect just post them in the effect request section and if I can, I will be happy to create it for you.
Again a terrific new and usable effect serie Andrew!
btw, some of your new added effects does not have (by mistake I guess) the right background color in the scale method, which result in two grey or black bars in the effect.
For anyone that wanna use these effects, just open de effect in the effect editor (right click on the effect-tab and choose manual edit) and double click on the 'Load Internet Image' node, a settingswindow will appear in which you need to click and drag your mouse to the white area of the effect image (right side of your screen) and let go, click 'ok' in the settingswindow and you're ready to go!
Thanks again for the new added effects Andrew!
Cheers, Arwin

Re: Moveable Spiral Effects.
Hi Arwin,
You are quite right - I made an error, but noticed too late - I've asked Tony to remove the 10 effects in question and he tells me they will only appear in the 'Latest' gallery - once they have left that gallery, they should not appear in the main gallery. I was playing around with settings and forgot to put the setting back to the correct one. Thinking I was using the correct parameters I uploaded 10 effects with the same error. But I did notice right away and contacted Tony.
The 'Move, rotate & resize spirals 010-038' series replaces the series with the error.
It would be good if you could retrieve effects that you were not happy about.
Cheers,
Andrew

Re: Moveable Spiral Effects.
Good to know Andrew, Tony did the same for me lately Would be great indeed, a retrieve option for effects that are uploaded in error, but Tony is fast though

Re: Moveable Spiral Effects.
Thought I'd post another use of the Movable Spiral effects. This one was hard as the original (top) won a competition so how do you improve on it? OK, go off the wall. Used one of the Movable Spiral effects plus an oil painting type effect. Taken at Mallory Park in Key West, 2009.
For those Megapixel zealots, this was taken on a Pentax K100D DSLR at 6Mp. It is blown up on our wall, printed on canvas and is about 18" wide. You cannot detect a pixel even with a magnifying glass. It's all about the glass as they say.

Re: Moveable Spiral Effects.
Hi Richard,
Thanks for sharing another use of my spiral effects.
First of all congratulations on winning a competition with a very fine original image - it's beautiful!
Secondly, thought your second image made an exciting alternative to your original - not necessarily better, but different! That's the whole point, you can create alternative images quite easily in SPE, thereafter, it is a matter of choice which ones you exhibit. I often make over 100 variations (quickly) and then select my favourites and delete all the rest.
Well done!
Cheers,
Andrew

Fully agree about 'different' not necessarily 'better'.
