My Son Dennis

Postby Phelon » Thu Mar 06, 2014 9:48 pm

Taken with a Canon Power Shot G10. Processed on a canvas backing with an oil painting look. The shirt logo he designed to represent his champion friesian horse breeding, and they are beautiful--with their long black manes. The frame is a design of ShutterFreaks.com.

Best to everyone,
Phelon

This update to "name" was added after seeing that first time around, the color was too white; so I made it smaller and grayer in SPE.

Hi Phelon,

Excellent & stunning portrait of your son - love the treatment & framing. Very delicate 'painted' feel on a lovely textured canvas - SUPERB!

I note that you shot the original using The Canon Power Shot G10 - I often use my Canon G15 as I think it is a fabulous camera to take around, another fine compact that I use is Samsung's EX1, another brilliant camera for professional shots. In fact, I gave away all my Digital SLRS as I cannot be bothered with the weight, although I did get a Fuji Finepix HS50 EXR bridge camera for shooting in a variety of situations that would not suit compacts.

The thing is, as long as you have a reasonable original and your skills, you can turn out wonderful images such as this one, which I love!

Kind regards,

Andrew

Good afternoon from half way around the world,

There's always an element of surprise when opening a post, especially from my dear friend Andrew! The air suddenly seems to explode with bits of talent--there could be your music playing in the background while reading and watching what you do. So a friendly email becomes a life rewarding experience that makes what this is all about. Happiness everywhere everyday.

We also have a Canon Powershot G12, which my wife and I use a lot. My best SLR is a Canon 5D Mk II, but lacks having the lenses I would like. We have traveled to Europe with a lot of equipment, due to lack of experience, but also feeling strong and energetic. Ah, I remember those days. Now I'm "trying: to practice what I preach about good health and exercising. I played lots of football in my days. All three children have much more talent than me, and my German wife has the most talent in the family.

Your experience with different cameras lets me know more about your interests and I can take my time reviewing them. It will be some time before I recover enough to drive, so it's with great pleasure to be able to learn and do more on the computer. I dream of what a new Apple Pro would do to help--speed processing, lots more ram and better everything--now to sell some things to buy the new. My wife's monitor quit working and she received a 24 inch HP Pavilion that is probably the best whitest color balanced I have seen--and we paid only a few dollars to upgrade (it is our second replacement monitor. Never replaced any monitors for the Mac, except when we replaced the whole computer.

Say you know, I'm just sitting here having a "good "ole time", and I feel like this is a little share time on SPE; however, I'm all for sharing our thoughts, our ideas, our work. SPE becomes a beautiful blend of enjoyable thoughts and doing things which help make life richer. As I tell my family, it's the little things in life that really count. So let them know you love them, and that's all that really matters in the end.

Thanks today for your comments. Hope others will join in and let us see and hear what you are doing.

Best, my friend,

Phelon
