Saving group of "shortlist effects"

Postby Redrock1350 » Sun Mar 30, 2014 12:19 am

Can I save a subset group of "shortlist effects" so I can apply to other images without having to go through the entire list time after time?

Not sure if there is something as subsets in the shortlist, I think not.

Not sure if you know about it and if it is someting that could help you, but there is a function 'Batch Apply Effect' (File > Batch Apply Effect)
With this function you can apply several effects you use on one photo to multiple other photos.

Here is a video about that function:

Thanks Arwin...but that is not exactly what I need. If I go through all the effects and choose 60 effects from the 415 or so and I would like to have these available to use on other similar images; is there a way to save this selected group in another area to go back to without having to go through the whole list of effects again?

Thanks

I would like to be able to do somewhat the opposite of this. I would like the ability to "Clear" or "Delete" the Recent Applied or Shortlisted Effects if I so desired. Is there a way to do this?

Hi everyone,

If you make a shortlist, when you apply any effect, the rest of the shortlist gets added into your recently used list, which can be found in the right hand column when hovering over "Favorites Recent Shortlists" button. The right hand side recent list is updated automatically and shows things you use a lot or have used recently. On the left hand side is your favorites which are managed by you. You can add things by clicking on the gold star (if you have show ratings enabled in the settings). You can also add or remove items from that list by clicking on the "<" or Manage button that you can see when looking at the recent and favourite lists.

Hope that helps both of you!

I understand you can remove them or add them to the favorites, but how do you "clear" or "delete" the recents list? (the right side)

Hi DBenterprises,

I'm afraid you can't. The recent list is automatically generated and not editable. If you want a list you can curate you have to use the favorites list. That's the only difference between the two lists.

Possibly two features you might consider for future:
!. The ability to create subgroups of certain effects that would apply to a certain type of image that is defined by the user. I know you have the groupings by type in another area of the program, but user-defined groupings would seem to make sense, especially since the current method will create huge files that you still have to "wade through" to find the desirable one (s).
2.The ability to delete the right-hand side of the shortlist since again this list can become huge in a short period of time. Where is this list kept...on my computer or on your files under my account?

Thanks, just learning a great program.

I wholeheartedly agree. That would be a very good updated feature. (1 and 2)

They both sound like sensible features. The recent list is limited to 20 items max, so it should never get huge. Is that broken? The recent list is stored on your computer. On windows it's stored in

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Anthropics\PhotoEditor\recent_effects which if you know what you're doing you could delete to clear the recent list.
