Two exciting new silhouette series overlays + ADDITIONS
Hi folks,
Two new series of mine are now live:
1. Ab silhouette figures (10 pages of effects)
2. Windows and grids (5 pages of effects)
Simply type the series descriptor into the gallery search box and the effects should appear. Example: Just type 'Ab silhouette figures' into the search box and when you click to accept the 10 pages of effects will be shown.
Here are three examples of what can be done - the same original was used (a harbour scene) in each case. The first two examples combine one effect from each of the two series above. The third example uses one of Arwin's stage lighting effects - 'stage lighting blue (V2) I think, combined with the second image. You can do absolutely anything with these effects. Combine them with lighting effects to the front, or to the back of the window/grid overlays. Can be used for interiors or looking outside, or again, looking inward. Many of the grid overlays can be used to create nice modern graphics to play with. Combined with effects from the gallery - the possibilities are endless. Use masking techniques to increase usability. Use the 'Composite' feature to really explore what can be done.
My hope is that others will take my ideas to a new level and create brilliant effects for the future - anyway, HAVE FUN & I HOPE YOU ENJOY!
The file name shows the effects used.
Have a creative time with these effects!

Hi Andrew!
Very nice and useful new effects!
The Ab silhouette figures can be very handy to demonstrate thinks and for sure for any other creativity purpose
The windows and grids can give your images a nice extra touch, a new look and feel
I've played a bit with Windows and grids 018, only a minor note good to know, the Hue node you use in these effects alter the image to much to use the masking feature, so I did remove the Hue node from the effect to erease parts of the window/grid using the masking feature
Thanks Andrew!
Kind regards,
Arwin
Here my example, I think this works well!

Re: Two exciting new silhouette series overlays.
Hi Arwin,
Thanks for your comments and example - always good to hear from you (by the way, your latest innovations with stage lighting look fantastic).
Love your new image using one of my grids - really like the foreground - works a treat!
As for your comment about the hue slider. From the point that you make I totally agree with you, however, the reason that I put the slider in was so that you could change the hue, saturation, contrast ... and so on, of the original to enable users to make the original more sympathetic to a totally black overlay. You have the option to change hues, and convert original to B&W by destaturating the original. You can make the contrast harsh or soft. You can play with exposure etc. So it is my belief that the hue slider should remain - but experienced users such as yourself can modify the effect through the manual edit feature to suit their own needs. But what you say is true if there are masking conflicts.
A wee note to others:
I've just uploaded a small series of tree overlays called 'Tree silhouettes series one' - 12 in all numbered 001-012. To locate them in the effects gallery simply type in 'Tree silhouettes series one' and they should all appear (it may take a few days for them to go through the system before appearing). Hope you enjoy.
Here are the overlay images that I've uploaded. As always these are generic images and you may have to alter them by all available tools including erasing elements to suit your needs.

Re: Two exciting new silhouette series overlays.
Thank you Andrew, it's a picture I took back in 2010 at the Greek island Crete
btw I can see your point of view about the Hue node, thats true, always good when you have a lot of options to alter the image in your effect.
It's just that if someone like to mask the effect they know they have to remove the Hue node (or reset the node options), otherwise you will see color changes to the parts you mask
Your Tree silhouettes looks awesome, nice piece of work!

Re: Two exciting new silhouette series overlays + ADDITIONS
Hi Arwin,
Taking into account all you have said, I've uploaded a new version of windows and grids - this time with selected tone controls only - no hue etc.
The new series is called 'Windows and grids v3 with tone controls' numbered 001-030. I intend to create a series 2 of the first series, so I've labelled this one V3.
Hope this addresses the problem you identified whilst still giving the user some control over the original.
What do you think?
As usual it will take a few days before the new series becomes live. Once it is you can call the series up by typing 'Windows and grids v3 with tone controls' in the Effect Gallery search box.
Kind regards,
Andrew

Re: Two exciting new silhouette series overlays + ADDITIONS
Hi Folks,
Further to what I was saying about user control, I've looked at the situation again and the problem still exists, but there are two easy solutions:
1. Use 'Manual Edit' to remove either the 'Hue' or 'Tone' controls, or
2. Set all sliders to '0'
However, for future effects of this type, I will dispense with the 'Hue' and 'Tone' controls and users can do all adjustments to the original before applying my silhouette effects. For those who just want to apply my filters with masking, then the existing controls can be quite useful. Anyway, thanks for pointing the problem out.
Cheers,
Andrew

Re: Two exciting new silhouette series overlays + ADDITIONS
Haha well aslong the color does not changes that much that will work
I've a example attached which shows the possibility to write some 'words' with the mask feature As soon you reset the hue node it will return in the second image which has the original colors of the image.
So reset does the trick, but if the verison 3 will work without the need to reset, masking can used without going into the effect editor!
Thanks for thinking with me and adding a new version, still they are a nice addition to the SPE Gallery!
Kind regards,
Arwin
