CAN YOU SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?
Here is an effect that I've been working on - the image shows the result so far. There is:
1. A background image (the patterned background)
2. One of my grid effects superimposed (the yellow grid)
3. A second superimposition - that of the flower.
Problem:
This effect is almost working (I think) but the second superimposition (the flower) is somewhat transparent. I've tried various approaches but have not succeeded in getting full color. I have not saved the effect to the gallery - neither a 'local' file or a full submission to the effects gallery. But I have made a copy of the 'Saved Session' which reveals my structure when loaded and a manual edit is applied.
You can get a copy of this file from my Dropbox here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ue83pfnzhcno7 ... e%20001.pe
Here is the relevant image showing the result of the effect structure so far:
If we can solve this problem it will open the doors wide open for future effects.
I don't know if we can achieve this, but it would be good if we could independently alter the hues of each superimposition.
Don't know what problems might exist when using masking techniques.
Anyway, here's a wee challenge for all you effect creators out there, and this includes my mentor and friend Arwin and my tester and friend DBenterprises.
Good luck!
Look forward to your responses.
Cheers,
Andrew

Re: CAN YOU SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?
I played around for about 1/2 hour, trying different things but was not successful. I also don't have full comprehension of what all the nodes do and how they exactly interact, so it's too much trial and error at this point. I bet arwin figures it out

Thanks for trying - I'm sure that Arwin will have a good bash at it and most likely solve the problem.
Cheers - have a good day!

Hi all,
The reason the flower was coming up see through is because you'd multiplied it with the picture. You'd made a good selection of it so it should have been easy to paste it in with the normal blending mode using the selection. However you seem to have hit a bug, because the 'color' selection you needed wasn't showing up in the list. Luckily it's easy to work around by processing the image in a different way. I've uploaded the fixed version to dropbox here:

Have a good day!

Re: CAN YOU SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?
Thanks Tony,
I've downloaded your 'fixed version' but I see no difference in structure nor result. The fix was named exactly the same as my file and I wonder if you have just re-sent that. Anyway, the semi-transparency of the color still exists, so the problem still exists. Please check this out for me. I think you have actually shown the link to my Dropbox???
Cheers & kind regards,
Andrew

Re: CAN YOU SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?
Another approach, which gives the result you want (I think )
In your design you where using two selections (two colors), red flower and a orange grid, which gives a problem and if I understand Tony right, it's part of a bug.
I thought an other way arround, I select just one color, the color 'white' by using the select by color node and used the 'invert selection node' to get the grid and flower selected, that will work
Here is the session:
See improved version below..
Seeing more and more possibilies, cool!
Love the collaboration!
Kind regards,
Arwin

Re: CAN YOU SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?
Minor update, blending flower wasn't correct, now it is
(btw, I noticed that the hue slider of the flower does not work properly all the time in this design, dont know why.., last checked I was able to change colors of the flower)
