effects gallery
In the effets Gallery, I was using on page 1, Object set to mid grey by Tony and it is no longer there on page one. I typed in the search for it but it does not bring it up for me. I used it and put a blue back ground in my photo and then went back to the photo gallery without saving it like I have done before and I saw it in the effects gallery with the blue background in the top row second one over from the left. . What did I do wrong? It is a great effect and I would sure like to have it back. Can you help Thank you Pennie
Re: effects gallery
Hi Pennie,
You can still search for the effect, it's there Search for (and press enter): Object set to mid grey
Did you search for Object set to mid grey by Tony? Because that will indeed return no effects.
The way effects appear in the gallery is complex, depends on if effects are favorite, amount of used and the type of photo you are using, so it can be that an effect does not show up on page one.
Effects are sorted on most relevant on page 1 and goes back in relevance each other page.
You can favorite an effect by clicking on one of the stars in the effect gallery grid (hovering over the effect), by doing that, you will find the effect back in your favorite list (two buttons below the galley button)
Hope this will bring back the effect you like
Have fun,
Arwin

Re: effects gallery
Arwin, Thank you for your fast reply. I did go to the SEARCH and entered "object set to mid grey" and I got a message "no effects found for object set to mid grey. I then typed in "object set for mid gray", changing the grey spelling to gray and it takes me to page one but the gallery effect is not there. Will typing in the "gallery effect name in the "search" bring it up regardless of what page it is on? I appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you Pennie

Re: effects gallery
Just type grey in search. Is it any of those?
Re: effects gallery
Hi Pennie,
Another way to quickly find effects you've used recently is to hover over the 'Favorites Recent Shortlists' button on the right of the screen.

Hi Pennie,
I see what's going on (atleast I think )
Did you use any selections in the session, before you used the effect: Object set to mid grey ?
Because I think it's an effect that is designed to use with selections.
Maybe Tony can jump in here, because I dont know if the way it works now, is right or not, but for sure you can find your effect back by doing this Pennie
I'll explain;
When you open an image and search for "Object set to mid grey" (Without quotes), you won't find any.
When you use the Select Area tool and apply an effect to an area (used Subject, any effect) and after that adding a new effect to the image (this time not using the Select Area tool) the effect "Object set to mid grey" will showup when you do a search.
Also the effect is searchable when using the Select Area tool, this gives me the idea that this effect is designed to use with selections, only thing I don't understand is why it shows up when using an effect without selections, after using one with selections (can you still follow? )
But I hope this makes any sense to you Pennie
Kind regards,
Arwin

Re: effects gallery
I just discovered that as Tony explained to me in another thread. (some "effects" are only available from "select area").
Re: effects gallery
Thats true DBenterprises, the only think I wonder about is the last part I wrote, "why it shows up when using an effect without selections, after using one with selections", because, no selection is made at that point for that particular effect ("Object set to mid grey" )

Re: effects gallery
Hi,
Just to clarify: Some effects need selections: they just can't work without them.
When searching for effects on selections, SPE will prioritise the effects it thinks are the most relevant, which will be ones that do something good to that selection.
All selections exist forever, so when you browse the gallery generally after having made a selection previously, by default it shows you all the effects it can, and if there are selections, it can show you more effects than if there are no selections.
Hope that helps!
Tony
