New 'Creative Masking Templates' Video
Hi Folks,
Wakened about 6:00 am Sunday morning with a brand new idea involving templates by which you can create specific mask shapes, either ‘as is’ or inverted. Absolutely no clue as to where the idea came from – but that’s the nature of creativity!
Tested out my concept and created 27 new effects called ‘Creative masking templates 001-027′. There are instructions (albeit with a typo error) contained within the effects on how to use them, which are removed before using the further effects. However, I thought it would be best to make a short video showing how these new templates should be used as these templates are really simply a 'means to an end'.
The video is aimed at users who are already familiar with the 'Select Area' feature and the related use of 'Selection' bushes.

Here is a jpeg of example templates:
Still lots of ideas for using these templates and I hope to upload many more.
Hope other effect designers will pick up the idea and develop it – look forward to what other might come up with!
Each template is in a strong color as this facilitates easy use.
Experienced users can open up the Manual Edit feature and change the template color to suit their own needs.
Hope you find these useful in your creative endeavours.
Regards,
Andrew

Not working. Has it been loaded in yet? Typed creative masking templates and I get nothing?

Hi my friend,
I've just typed in 'Creative masking templates' and they are all live. All I can advise is to try again and if that does not work you will need help from Admin, as I have no control over the Effects Gallery as I am just a user, like you. They should show up in the 'Latest' effects tab!
Regards,
Andrew

I have them! You may have to do a FILE - UPDATE GALLERIES to download them.
I tried one out and it worked just as described in the video. The idea is really good and the templates are a great help if you need a mask that is a shape. By trying it out I also became more familiar with the Select Area functionality, so it was doubly helpful

Update did the trick. Thanks. If I want to soften the edges, I just brush a bit around them?

You have it one, my friend!
You can simply brush around mask edges with a soft edged airbrush to blend results.
Glad you have found it intuitive!
Are there any template shapes that particularly interest you - if so, let me know and I'll see what I can do.
Cheers,
Andrew
