An Animated Gif of my Abstract Art
Just for a change I thought I would show you an animated Gif file of my Abstract Art - all effects were done in Smart Photo Editor using my own contributions. The original was photographed today outside laid an white paper - it is one of my parlour guitars - a handmade Farida Guitar.
I did note some of the effects that I used and that list is shown below, but I would encourage you to choose your effects rather than replicate what I've done - because that's where the FUN lies.
Effects - not in order (couple missing)

In terms of process I used the Montage feature and started with a green blank. Next I used the Composite feature to superimpose the guitar image. I erased the background from the guitar image to reveal the green which now became the new background. Actually I saved the image at this point and reloaded it - this time I used the 'Select Area' feature and again I made a background mask. In the end I only used the mask a little bit. However each of the above images is a combination of either my 'Funky drop shadow 001' or my 'Metamorphosis 002' effect and one other from the list above. Two effects for each image.
The range of possibilities is huge. Sometimes I think that people don't see much use for some of my avant garde and way out textural effects, hopefully, the little animation show some of the possibilities. The images above were the kind of results I envisaged with some of these effects - the were never really meant to to be applied other than to arty images. It is always great to see what other people come up with - I'm constantly amazed. Just a wee note: I think the kind of effects on display here work best with simple, minimalist, graphical images rather than trying to apply them to typical landscapes - but you can always prove me wrong.
Have FUN and enjoy creating your own abstract artworks.
Kind regards,
Andrew

One more for luck!
Re: An Animated Gif of my Abstract Art
Great work, Andrew!!!
That was fun and educational. Yes, I hope to see more from you, of course, and others. SPE is unique in that you can do these things. It amazes me, too. Exceptional work, Andrew, and that was fun work. Your extra picture was like an encore to a art show. Beautiful.
That was a breath of fresh air. I'm just taking it all in--I think I heard some music in the background while I watched the show....
Best to you,
Phelon

Re: An Animated Gif of my Abstract Art
Thank you for posting these lovely images and describing how they were created. I can't say which of the guitar images I like best - I have several favorites, and they are all strikingly beautiful. There's not a one I wouldn't hang on my wall (if I had wall space). I love the funky drop shadow as a key component in this series - it makes the basic image so much more interesting to start with. You've given me a great idea for customized birthday cards for my friends - take a photo of some object dear to them and produce a collage of different versions of it. Thank you!
Re: An Animated Gif of my Abstract Art
Hi Andrew,
Well, another day and another something to learn; there isn't a day that goes by that I don't purposely learn something. Now, being exposed to your wonderful creations with lots of information as to how you created them, I can begin a new learning process, with results I had never dreamed of accomplishing.
Maybe not to start, but, for example, I have never made an animated gif, except for years ago. So, I want to look that up. Then what Eve (eadams) mentioned about your drop shadow (Funky drop shadow 001) is an early effect I want to get to using. Plus you given a whole lot more here to learn and put to practice; this is the way I like it.
So, on to a new server, new creative ideas, and more fun than you can shake a stick at (man, I haven't said that in years).
Everybody seems to be having such a good time here. It's like a non-stop photo-art school with so many excellent teachers and students. It's exciting to think what the future has for all of us. Wonderful place to be in my later years!
