Artistic Style: Pen Sketch + Realistic Painting
Took a vacation; included Marceilles on the trip. Great historic city! Tried out a great pen sketching program "PhotoSketcher", and this is the result after using SPE to title and frame.

Very nice.
I've been using FotoSketcher for years, great program and free!

Good morning DBenterprises,
Yes, FotoSketcher is a great program, and I like chating with David, the developer. However, this was done in PhotoSketcher, a pen sketching only program for the Mac. It's on sale now for $4.99, and a terrific program.
I use a 27" iMac with Parallels so that I can use both Mac and Windows programs. In regard to these two mentioned programs, there is such a similarity in names with even a Sketcher program and Sketcher 2 program available.

Re: Artistic Style: Pen Sketch
Hi my friend,
Rather lovely image & great processing Phelon. I too use a range of programs including FotoSketcher that others have referred too - I don't have a Mac, so I've never heard of PhotoSketcher, but it looks super. Anyway nice image.
Can Smart Photo Editor do similar?
Well I thought it could when I saw your image - so I spent just a few minutes with a boat image to see if a similar effect was achievable with current effects. Without really trying I processed one of my effect master images of boats and came up with this, I could have spent time softening the image, but I just wanted to test my opinion. OK, my result is not exactly as your image processing, but with a little effort I'm sure an effect could be designed that came very close to what PhotoSketcher achieved.
The effects used were:
1. Black & white lines by Superdave
2. Canvas by Penningtons7
Plus a modified black border.
To replicate your image the canvas texture would need to be very similar to the one used in PhotoSketcher (but that should not be hard to achieve) and a little softening of the harsher black lines to give a more 'Pencil' feel to the image. But once created, the effect could be applied in an instant within SPE.
This comment is not anti-other programs, it is just made to show the capabilities of SPE now and in the future.
By the way, my image is simply an example - it is not meant to be a finished artwork, just a means to an end.
Thanks for sharing your BEAUTIFUL image - you know I love boats.
Best wishes & kind regards,
Andrew

Re: Artistic Style: Pen Sketch
The Marseilles image is absolutely wonderful. I love the juxtaposition of the boats and the masts. The image is perfect for the sketch effect with the clean lines and white space, which is only interrupted by the seagulls.
I think that Andrew did manage to copy the sketch effect very closely. Andrew can do almost anything with SPE! I do prefer that particular image in color, because I think it is too busy for a simple sketch, but it is a beautiful image.

Hello Eve,
This is for you Eve, and any others who like realistic, glamour paintings. My apologies as this was not created in SPE, but, as you know, I love SPE and I enjoy the freedom of mentioning other art programs and occasionally show an example. This was created in Dynamic Auto Painter (have to go to internet).

Hello Eve,
Thank you for your loving comments; I had you in mind from the beginning when I painted it. We will keep in touch, and someday may meet.
